In 2011, I graduated from OCAD University with a BFA in photography. My Medal-winning thesis, Terra Nova, explored a series of fictionalized land- and sea-scapes. My references included satellite imagery, early photography, alchemy, and narratives of polar exploration. Less than a decade later, this series has taken on a new meaning through the effects of climate change. Terra Nova now carries a darker warning, of—as the series' title suggests—a new earth.
